In celebration of Earth Day, we’re announcing an expansion to our Coastal Livelihoods and Mangroves Project, an ambitious effort to strengthen coastal land and tenure rights for millions of people, protect fragile mangrove ecosystems, and mitigate climate change.
NPR — Landesa’s Rusrann Loeng was quoted in a feature on how mangrove restoration in Cambodia has helped revive collapsing fisheries. The article highlights community-led restoration efforts alongside the science behind mangroves’ role in carbon storage and climate resilience.
Our work has emphasized the importance of explicitly recognizing land rights in the NDCs as effective tools for natural resource management, particularly in forest and coastal ecosystems.
IUCN — The Royal University of Agriculture and the Fisheries Action Coalition Team hosted a national forum on climate-smart agriculture to address climate resilience in Cambodia’s Tonle Sap and Mekong River regions, with participation from students, local communities, and partners funded by the EU and Landesa. The event brought together 200 stakeholders to share knowledge and develop strategies for sustainable farming, fisheries management, and eco-tourism as tools to help local farmers adapt to climate change.
