Building the Field of Land Rights Advocates
To ensure communities can access and maintain their land rights for good, we need a robust network of land rights advocates across the globe. We work to strengthen the field of land rights advocacy through global collective action as well as support for local partners on the ground. We bring funding, training, analysis, evidence, and other resources to build capacity for local partners.
Stronger Together
Land connects to nearly every issue we face today. Landesa partners with organizations working in adjacent fields, such as housing, conservation, climate, youth, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and more to achieve mutual goals and to help raise awareness about why land rights matter for all of us. It takes a global network working together to bring about holistic, systemic change.

Civil Society Organization
West Bengal Sanghas
In West Bengal, India, networks of women-led community-level self-help groups called Sanghas empower women through skills building, entrepreneurship, and improved livelihoods. We partner with Sanghas to establish Sangha Facilitation Centers (SFCs) that offer land-related services to women in rural areas, with the vision to eventually scale the SFCs nationwide to meet expressed interest.

Global Institution
United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
We partner with the UNCCD in developing strategies to raise awareness on responsible land governance for combating desertification, land degradation, and drought — placing a special emphasis on marginalized climate actors, including women, youth, and Indigenous Peoples.

Philanthropy Organization
King Philanthropies
Support from King Philanthropies has allowed us to: support the passage of landmark laws, conduct conservation research, and raise legal awareness in Liberia; study rural landlessness, advise pro-poor legal revisions, and enhance smallholder land allocation in Myanmar; promote women’s and youth land rights, conduct land use planning, and build government capacity in Tanzania; and much more.
