Where solutions meet scale.

In a world facing myriad development challenges related to poverty, hunger, conflict and climate change, there is growing recognition that land rights offer an intersectional solution. For governments in low- and middle-income countries, land rights-focused law and policy reform can create broad-based social and economic development while advancing regional and international commitments for climate change, conservation, and related policies. And because stronger land rights are integral to easing conflict, these reforms can also foster stability, prosperity, and peace.

Landesa’s work was founded on the idea that equitable, people-centered law and policy is a powerful tool for delivering systemic change. Through the years, our law and policy advocacy and technical support has led to stronger land rights – and a first step out of poverty – for hundreds of millions living in the world’s poorest places. Working as a trusted advisor to governments investing in land rights reform puts Landesa in position to deliver transformative change at scale.

The Law and Policy Practice Group

Landesa'a Law and Policy Practice Group (LPPG) brings together Landesa's law and policy experts to respond to emerging challenges and new opportunities affecting land and related resources. The LPPG accepts requests for legal and policy assistance from governments and organizations, drawing on deep expertise from Landesa's country and cross-cutting programs to provide the best application of international practices for the unique context of each request. LPPG members also publish case studies, legal briefs, training curricula, and other materials to strengthen the land rights field and support the work of Landesa's global and regional partners.
